it depends it is still at the top surface (meaning that dirt or other things (roots) have not ‘pushed’ it to the bottom), and that it is not blocked by this [meaning that said object does not block (the 'signal') too much]

It looks like they do. But they are not in Sacramento, they are in Citrus Heights, a little way from Sacramento. They have a used MXT and DFX from White’s up on their used page right now. All their other pages have a White’s dealer button you can click. Hope that helps!

For the same reason that you can’t yell “FIRE” in a crowded theater, even though we have freedom of speech.

I use a Tesoro Cibola. It was less than $350.I have a shoe box full of silver coins and a few rings, some tax tokens and a belt buckle incrusted with 10 Buffalo nickels. This total doesn’t include all the clad coins that I’ve found.Over the past 3 yrs.I have hunted mostly old schools and parks.

You should really ask this question at a forum like treasurenet dot com or findmall dot com and state how much money you are looking to spend and for what will the detector be used. There are entry level, mid level and high end models and there isn’t one that is good at everything. Some are better for the beaches, others for relic hunting and others that stand out for finding coins. A good entry level detector in my opinion would be a Garret ACE 250 or a Radio Shack Discovery 3300. Mid level I would say a Whites M6 or Minelab X-Terra 505. Top line I would say a Minelab Explorer SE or ETRAC and perhaps a Whites DFX. I am very partial to buying used, and find the Minelab Explorer XS and II to be really good all around machines that can be had on Ebay for $400-500. I like Whites, they are good quality and made here, but Minelabs beat them out in too many ways. Again, you should really ask this question with the details I mentioned so that someone can give you a better answer. If this will be your first detector, whatever you settle on, make sure you get one with a target ID aka TID, which is basically a screen that will give you some indication of what you may have found. Learning a detector with tones/sounds only is not the best way to learn.

yes, metal detectors will find gold, silver, as well as cheaper metals… I would suggest that you find a local treasure hunters club, ask if someone could help you find the ring.EVERY treasure hunter that I know would be willing to help for no fee, just for the fun of the hunt. I would be very cautious of someone that wanted to charge you money. How to find a club: call the White’s Electronics number, they will put you in touch with a LOCAL dealer. Call the local dealer and tell him/her of your plight.www.whiteselectronics.com will get you started.

You need to look for an underwater metal detector if you want to use it in the water. I used to metal detect alot with my dad, and we have found some awesome things, diamond rings, old money, gold, etc. It is a fun hobby. I suggest looking in parks, beaches, cemetarys. But as I said you have to have an underwater machine to go underwater, they range in price depending on the features.

If it doesn’t, then it’s a broken metal detector.
